Rhea Gertken began working for Nevada Legal Services in May 2006. Prior to joining the staff at NLS she worked as a Staff Attorney in the Housing Unit of Legal Services of Eastern Missouri in St. Louis and was primarily responsible for representing homeless individuals in the Homeless Legal Project. She is currently the Directing Attorney of the Reno office but has also managed the Las Vegas office before relocating to Reno. Ms. Gertken received her undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and attended law school at Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, Missouri. While in law school, Rhea interned for Senator Richard J. Durbin in Washington, D.C., clerked for an administrative judge for the EEOC, and volunteered as a law clerk with the Nature Conservancy. Ms. Gertken has practiced in courts of all levels, from municipal court assisting homeless individuals remove barriers to housing and employment, to administrative tribunals challenging the denial of an unemployed worker's right to unemployment benefits, and in U.S. District Court in a case involving a subsidized housing tenant's right to continued housing assistance.
