What's New:

Celebrate Pro Bono Week!

Pro Bono Week 2011 events will take place the last 2 weeks of October from October 20-October 26.

Champions of Justice Luncheons

Our Pro Bono Week events kick off with the NLS Champions of Justice Luncheon at the Peppermill Hotel and Casino (Tuscany Ballroom) in Reno on October 20. Our Champions of Justice Luncheon in Las Vegas will take place at the Springs Reserve on October 26.

We will also hold various clinics, a law fair, and a Family Law CLE during pro bono week:

Nevada Legal Services is co-sponsoring a law fair on Saturday, October 22, in Reno at the Meadowood Mall from 10:00 a.m. We are also hosting a Wills for Veterans and Service Members event at the Siena Hotel in Reno on Monday, October 24, with the Young Lawyers Section of the Nevada State Bar. Nevada Legal Services hosts monthly educational classes for anyone interested in learning more about a variety of legal topics, self-help forms clincis to assist those interested in filing any document in court, Continuing Legal Educcation Clinics for attorneys, and provides information on legal issues facing Nevadans through our weekly radio show. Foreclosure Mediation Classes

Reno

Multiple Clincis and Education Seminars are held in Reno every month. Anyone wanting assistance filing a court action on their own can attend our Self-Help Forms Clinic in Reno held 4 times a month between the District Courthouse, located at 75 Court Street, Reno, NV 89501, and in our classroom at our Reno Office, located at 654 Tahoe Street, Reno, NV 89509. All of the clinics and classes are held at our Reno Office unless otherwise noted.

Carson City

The Clinics in Carson City are held the 4th Thursday of every month. A Self Help Forms Completion Clinic is held from 1-3 p.m. and an Education Class, with topics changing monthly, is held from 3:30-5:30 p.m.

All classes and clinics are held at the Carson City Library, located at 900 N. Roop Street, Carson City, NV. If you would like to attend any of the clinics and classes held in Carson City, please note that you must call (775) 284-3491 at extension 214 to register. Elko

The last week of the month Nevada Legal Services hosts seminars on a variety of legal issues as well as a self-help forms clinic. All classes are held at the Elko Public Library located at 720 Court Street, Elko, Nevada 89801.

Last Monday of each month: Self Help Forms Completion Clinic from 2-5 p.m.
Last Tuesday of each month: Foreclosure Mediation Class from 10-12 p.m. followed by a Legal Education Clinic, with topics changing monthly, from 12-2 p.m.

In Pahrump, Nevada Legal Services holds a Self Help Forms Completion Clinic the 3rd Monday of each month from 11 – 1 at Stovall & Associates, located at 3250 S. Highway 160, Suite 6, Pahrump, NV 89048.

Foreclosure Mediation Classes Available!

Nevada Legal Services has begun a series of foreclosure counseling classes to instruct homeowners in the Nevada foreclosure process and the Foreclosure Mediation program. The classes are held bimonthly in Las Vegas and monthly in Reno, Carson City, and Elko. We are also holding classes throughout Nevada. See our Foreclosure Counseling page for more information!

Upcoming CLEs

Nevada Legal Services will hold a variety of CLEs over the next few months throughout Nevada.

Family Law 101
6.0 hrs CLE credit – 1 hour ethics

Family law basics, whether you are just starting up your practice, or want to branch out this is the education event for you.  Divorce, Custody, Guardianship, Pre/Post Issues/Solutions. 

Dates and Locations:

October 25, 2011  9:00 – 5:00   State Bar Center (Reno)
November 3, 2011 9:00 – 5:00 Red Lion Hotel (Elko)

Cost: The cost of seminar attendance is acceptance of one NEW pro bono case from NLS or conduct a community education clinic.

Attendees: Attendees must be a Nevada-licensed attorney (or Emeritus-Certified Pro Bono Attorney) in good standing and available to accept a new pro bono case at the time of the CLE.
